Transfer to WordPress

I have recently transferred this blog to WordPress from Blogger. If you’re subscribed to my blog via RSS, you might not see many changes, but if you click through to my actual From Boy To Man blog, then you’ll notice that the site is very different from what it used to be.

Right now the design is nothing to get excited about (I’ll slowly work on this as I go), but the ‘guts’ to WordPress, especially the premium theme that I’m using, are wonderful. I have complete control over the look of the site (I’ve had to learn a little CSS, HTML, and PHP in order to customize some things), and the ‘backend’ (the administrative panel – where I actually compose blog posts, pages, etc.) is very intuitive and easy to use. If you’re interested in using WordpPress for your own blog, keep reading and I might be able to help you out.

OK, now I’m excited to begin posting more regularly on this blog, simply because I really like working with WordPress.

If you’re wondering what I’ve been up to personally, here’s a few updates…

My wife Jocelyn and I are expecting our second son nearly any day now! She is due July 9th, but we’re counting down the days because Howard, our first, was born a whole 4 weeks early! Apparently our chances have gone up for early births.

We are in the process of changing careers. Crazy! We’re leaving our current job with a great non-profit organization this coming fall. While Jocelyn will stay home, I will look for work and for clients with a business that I’m starting, JML Strategies. I won’t go into too much detail about my business venture here. Basically I want to help individuals and businesses ‘take it to the next level.’ I’ll do general business consulting, but will specialize in social media and other online marketing and business strategies. With that, I will build websites and blogs for individuals and businesses. I’ve already helped a few friends build their websites, and will be offering a ‘family and friends’ package in the near future. If you’re interested, you can email me with questions.

Our son Howard is now 19 months old, and I’m learning so much about myself, my wife, my family, parenting, and life in general through that little squirt.

Thanks for engaging in this blog. The best thing for me is when people comment and write back, because it stretches me to think more and encourages me to keep writing!
